Hen Party Tips

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Trying to organise a hen party is no dumb job. It takes a lot of time and effort to sort everything out. Lest you forget, a hen party is not just a mere solicited responsibility where once you come up with a plan layout, everything will fall into place. Should you not have had any past encounters in throwing out a hen party, the following tips are a good head start to making a full one.

Tip 1 – Make a clear list of everything that you want. Friends you want to be there, food to be served, music to be played, activities to pursue, and location are just one of the stuff you’d need to keep track.

Tip 2 – Consider the number of participants to the party. Close friends, relatives and family of the bride should always be on top of your priorities. If possible, try to keep the guests no more than twenty but also not falling below ten. This is to make sure that everyone gets to be a part of the party and that the hen is the center of attention.

Tip 3 – Schedule it! Take note of the dates and days that the party could potentially take place. Weekends and holidays are a no-no since possible locations might get fully booked or jam-packed during your party.

Tip 4 – Dress codes. Decide on a good getup that the guests of the party could take on. High school uniforms, fairy tale characters, Halloween costumes, etc. Keep everything and out of the ordinary interesting.

Tip 5 – Music! This plays a major factor in the party. Hire a DJ or a nice karaoke with the songs the bride loves. Remember, it’s her party.

Tip 6 – Theme it up! Play out a theme for the party. May it be a reminiscent school prom or a hero dress up party?  Anything works! Go on and decorate.

Just give these tips a-following and in no time, you’d be a-partying.

What is a Hen Party?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

What is a Hen Party? – Hen party is a British moniker for a small celebration of and for women who are soon to be swept off their feet to the altar. The term is proliferated throughout UK, Ireland and Australia where it is also synonymous to a Hen night and Hen do while across the Atlantic, it is known to be as a bachelorette party (US) and as a stagette (Canada).

The hen party is conducted to honour a soon-to-be bride by her companions and friends. More often than not, it is hosted and organized by the honouree’s bridesmaid and friends. It is almost ultimately attended by the bride-to-be’s female friends but those times-are-a-changing since almost everyone has been acquainted with queer men on some occasions of their existence. Nevertheless, it will be a night to remember for those who shared in on the fun and memories.

The location of this merrymaking can range from the eloquent jet setting to the simplest at-home gathering. However, with the economy constraining on the possibilities of the venue, it is perhaps more appropriate to keep it on the down low without scrimping too much on the fun and excitement. The party can go on in certain pubs or bars for some cool and exhilarating carousing, in restaurants for a calm and intimate luncheon, and even in hotels for a really interesting gossiping during the sleepover. The party is oftentimes held within the household where the festivities are kept outside the box with pretty hefty and interesting gimmicks that can liven up the night.

The hen party is not just all about the location. It becomes more interesting with what you do with the time you have. There are a myriad of options to make when it comes to the theme of the festivity. You can go for some really sexy pole dancing with a professional which is sure to elicit laughs and twists among the partygoers and their lack of gymnastic skills. You can even go for the equally wild paintballing with the celebrant. With whatever plans you have, always make sure to consider the celebrant’s preferences and likes. After all, the night is supposed to be for her to enjoy.

With the planning process, it is always safe to get professionals to help out in smoothing the plans that you have.  The most important thing is for the celebrant and everyone to enjoy before the big day.

Post-It To Me Gently, Not!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Post-It To Me Gently, Not! – To a girl, her hen party is one that must not be forgettable. Being a soon-to-be bride, it lets her enjoy the time that she has left for herself with herself and the pack. So, it is only appropriate that interesting and humiliating, though not irrational, games are in order. One game on the rack would be the ‘Post-It To Me Game’.

The Post-It To Me Game is a game that lets everyone in on the fun. All you’re ever gonna need is a large pile of post-it pads and pens for the bride’s guests. To start off the game, provide each and everyone a post-it leaf and a pen. Let them write on the post-it a few funny and interesting memories they’ve had with the bride in a short sentence. Though not entirely necessary but some embarrassing picks from the bride’s baggage is pretty much welcome. After doing so, collect all the post-its and put them in a bowl. Then, let the bride read out loud the writings and let her guess who could’ve written it. When she gets it right, the one who gave out that post-it will then have to tell the story as to how such memory came to be.

Naughty, cute and funny recollections are the preferred; past boyfriends, hilarious nicknames, childhood memories, embarrassing moments are among the few choices.

Truth is, Hen Nights would Dare you!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Truth is, Hen Nights would Dare you! – Hen parties are seen to be the signature of the end of days of a bachelorette’s availability. Hen nights are events held before a few weeks or days before the hen actually gets hitched.  It is perhaps a modern convention of going through this activity before the wedding is done.

In these nights, everyone shares in on the fun. Everyone talks and laughs; they drink and gamble, plays and displays, and in all sorts, just plainly having fun through any activity that may break the ice. Consequently, this is how truth or dare became a staple to such happenings.  The game is carried on whether by spinning a bottle, taking turns or perhaps through picking out truth cards one by one. Through this, everyone gets to play and take their turns.

Once everyone is acquainted with their own, it is time to answer their truth cards. Truth cards are no easy for sometimes they can get as personal and dirty. Hence, should anyone refuse to divulge any answer then that’s where the dares come into play. On hen parties, dares are often of the different sort than the usual. They often come across as cheeky, corny, absurd, cheap, nevertheless, very hilarious and entertaining. The dares are always dependent on the location as to where the party is being held. If it is in a pub, you might be dared to go ask a guy to buy you a drink or even go after his number for one of your sisters and, the lowest among all, kiss him deliberately. No matter how indignant and unbelievable a dare may be, you are rest assured it’s going to be a blast with just a little push and some imagination.
